The Garibaldi Group was a proud sponsor of Hunterdon County’s first ever HackHunterdon hackathon, which was hosted at the Feed Mill Station this past Friday and Saturday (April 28 & 29). The event was a 24-hour tech product creation competition through a partnership between Hunterdon County Economic Development, Hunterdon County Chamber of Commerce, as well as Flemington Community Partnership.
Marc Saluk, Hunterdon County’s economic development director said of the event, “At its core, the purpose of the HackHunterdon hackathon is threefold. First, we are seeking to identify and bring together our local tech talent. Second, we want to make a grand demonstration of our collective commitment to technology growth in Hunterdon County. Finally, we want to connect investors and venture capitalists to our talented technologists.”
Locally, hackathon meetings began this past December with a MeetUp group. This group has quickly attracted over 100 members at meetings that are held the last Thursday of each month at Lone Eagle Brewing in Flemington.
At the end of the tech marathon, there were three innovations standing to claim a prize. The winner was Open POS, receiving the full $5,000 prize money. Coming in second place was Vivacity App and third place was a police body camera.
A sincere congratulation to all the winners, and to everyone who participated. It was a great weekend for Hunterdon County and for the state of New Jersey, as once again it proved that it has one of the best built-in technology labor forces in the country!
